Big Science – Mini Science Club has been carefully designed, developed and planned by Neil (Owner) and Helen (Early Years Practitioner). Helen has a BA Honours Degree in Early childhood and Curriculum Studies and has worked in a range of Early Years settings for many years. During Helen’s time spent in various Early Years settings she has gained knowledge and experience of how pre-school children have a natural desire and ability to find out and explore. She has also witnessed young children’s enthusiasm for science and curiosity about the world around them. With this in mind Helen and Neil have considered and closely looked at the EYFS in order to develop 39 unique weekly sessions for pre-school children to explore and ignite a passion for science during their early years. During each session your child will not only play and explore, but they will also be actively learning, creating and thinking critically every week. So many beneficial skills can be gained in their formative years. Each week the session will cover a specific theme such as Solids, Liquids & Gases, The Seasons or The Human Body. During the sessions the children will take part in age appropriate hands on experiments, learning and messy play which will be in keeping with the weekly theme. There will also be weekly continuous provision such as sand and a sensory Slime tray. We understand the importance of routine to very young children so each session will be structured to accommodate this. The session will always start with an introduction by Neil about the weekly theme. The children and their grown-ups will then explore the various activities/stations together along with Neil who will be on hand to show and explain the science in a fun and engaging way. All activities will be at the children’s level on the floor in tuft trays at different stations around the room. By having the activities at their level we are not only developing their fine motor skills but also their gross motor skills and developing their core strength. Mini Science Club sessions will be messy and involve using the whole body to explore and experiment. Old clothes for your little one is a good idea or why not purchase a Big Science – Mini Science Club T-shirt. The sessions will run on the following days:- Tuesday @ 10:30am (Term Time) - Great Park Community Centre, Newcastle Thursday @ 10:30am (Term Time) - Fulwell Community Centre, Sunderland Friday @ 10:30am (Term Time)y - Emma Hall, Crawcrook Please email info@bigscienceuk.com for more information on how to reserve your place and who knows your child could have that spark ignited and be the next great scientist of our future. |
